How to choose your hosting service

AiroServer's Blog

Choosing a hosting service that matches your needs the best can be a little bit confusing. The most important thing is to have enough information about different services and to know exactly what you want. In our earlier posts, we have explained different types of hosting services. These services include: “Shared hosting“, “VPS“, “Dedicated server” and “Cloud hosting“. In this post, we are going to explain how you can choose your hosting service that matches your needs the best. In order to do this, we are going to answer some important questions.

How to choose the best hosting service?

Does the server’s geographic location matter?

This matter is only important when you care about the ping of your server. For example, if you have an online shop and your visitors are mostly from your own country, it’s better to choose a server that’s closer to you. The closer the server is, the lower your ping can be.

Is it better to choose a cloud hosting service?

As we have explained cloud services fully before, this type of hosting has a lot of advantages. Some of these advantages are flexible pricing, better performance, high uptime and availability, scalable resources, and etc.

What type of server do we need for file sharing?

If you mostly use your server for file sharing, you should mainly consider the disk space that you need. RAM and CPU are not that considerable for this matter so you can choose your hosting service mostly based on the amount of disk space you need.

What type of server do we need for Emailing?

If you mostly use your server for sending emails, we recommend you not to choose shared hosting as your hosting service. VPS or Cloud Servers (like AiroServer) can be a better option for you. This is because, in shared hosting, all users are using the same IP for sending emails. So, there are some limits just to provide equal service quality for all users. In VPS, you are the only one that is using your IP.

What type of server do we need for a backup server?

If you are using your server as storage which means it’s a server that keeps your backups, the server’s disk space must be super important to you. So, it would be better to choose an HDD hard so you can get more space for a better price. HDD hards are cheaper but slower than SSD and SAS.

How much RAM, CPU, disk space do we need?

If your usability works both on a shared hosting and a dedicated server, the most important thing that helps you choose is the amount of CPU, RAM or space that you need. For this, you can go over the differences of every hosting service and their limits in our earlier posts.
