How to Activate Two-Factor Authentication in cPanel
Two-factor authentication is a security measure that adds an extra layer of protection when logging into cPanel. It requires you to enter a security code along with your password. This code comes from an app installed on your mobile phone, such as Google Authenticator, which you can download for free. Without this app and your phone, you cannot log into cPanel, ensuring the security of your account.
Please note that if you enable two-factor authentication, you can use only one session at a time. You cannot log in simultaneously from more than one system.
To use this feature, your service provider needs to have activated two-factor authentication on the server side. First, log into WHM and follow this path:
WHM >> Home >> Security Center >> Two-Factor Authentication
If your service provider has enabled this option, you can activate it from your cPanel. Select the Two-Factor Authentication option, and then click on “Set Up Two-Factor Authentication.”
On this page, you will see a QR code. Scan it using the two-factor authentication app installed on your mobile phone. A 6-digit code will appear on your phone, which you need to enter in the Security Code section as shown below:
You have 30 seconds to enter the code before the app generates a new one.
To deactivate two-factor authentication, click on the “Remove Two-Factor Authentication” option. To configure it again, click on the “Reconfigure” option and follow the setup process from the start.
