Where are .htaccess and PHP.ini in CyberPanel?

As you may know, CyberPanel is a free control panel that is supported on Linux. Earlier, we have explained about CyberPanel’s installation, how to add a website to it and create email accounts. In this post, we are going to show you how you can find .htaccess and PHP.ini in this control panel.

.htaccess is a configuration file that we can use to enable/disable some of the web server‘s functionality and features. PHP.ini a configuration file that is for running applications that need PHP. In most of the control panels, you can find these two important files in the File manager. However, you can’t find them in CyberPanel’s File manager. That’s why we wrote this post to help you find them.

*We need to mention that you have to log into the CyberPanel using the website you need those files for*

Attention! Please make sure to have a copy of your files and codes before changing them. You can create a backup or simply copy the texts in the file you are editing and paste in on editing programs like Notepad++.

Where is .htaccess?

In the website tab, if you click on the manage option, you will see the page that is shown in the picture below. This page is for managing your host.

Host management page

There is a “Rewrite rules” option on this page. If you click on this option, you can change the .htaccess codes. We should warn you again to get a copy of this file before editing it. The Rewrite rules option gives you some suggestions like changing Http to Https.

Where is PHP.ini in CyberPanel?

PHP.ini is another important configuration file that you might need to edit. In the same path, we mentioned for .htacess which is websites>manage and on the manage tab there is another option beside Rewrite rules that is “vHost conf”. Again click on this option and get a copy of its content. Now you can make the changes you want in your PHP.ini file. The changes you can make on this file are increasing memory limit, enabling display error, increasing max input file size and etc. An important thing to mention is that in order for you to be able to make these changes, first, your web hosting provider must do these steps. (If you have the root access to the server you can do this yourself.)

1. add this command to the server’s PHP.ini file.

LSPHP_ENABLE_USER_INI=on

2. Paste this command to vHost Conf file under the “scripthandler” section.

add isapi:username

Now you should insert this command in the management panel under the section “phpIniOverride”.

 php_value display_errors "on"

Using emails like example@domain.com has a much better effect on your audiences than using Gmail or other similar accounts. In our post about webmails, we listed some of the commonly created email accounts. We explained that we use each of these emails for different matters. For example, support@domain.com is a common email for the support department.

What is Email Forwarder and how to set it on cPanel?

One of the things you can do on hosting control panels is managing your webmail. So with the hosting control panels, you can create Emails dedicated to your webmail and manage them individually. However, it is always easier for us to check all of our emails at once and not to have to log into different webmails and check them separately. If you want to receive all of your mails in one place ( for example in your Gmail inbox ), you should set an Email forwarder.

What is Email Forwarder?

What is Link Building and How to do it?

In our last post, we mentioned all of the benefits of using links. We said that links are one of the most important things for SEO and if a page doesn’t include a link in it, it probably won’t be shown in SERP (Search Engine Result Page). In this post, we are going to explain what link building is and how it affects our SEO score.

What is link building?

What is link building?

Link building is the process of earning backlinks from other websites. As we know, links (Internal, External) are used for navigating viewers and crawlers through our website and others. There are two types of backlinks:

  • Natural: These are the most valuable links and every SEO specialist‘s goal is to get lots of these. They are the links you get when other websites think your content it trusted and precious so they naturally refer to your content as a source. This might take a lot of time to earn, but it is worth it.
  • Manual: In this case, the SEO specialist has to convince other websites with related content to give us backlinks and to link to our website.

How to earn backlinks:

There are different ways of link building and getting backlinks. Here are some of them:

  • Your partners and clients: You can always ask your long-term partners and faithful clients to give you backlinks or introduce your website on their website.
  • Blog page: Having a blog page on your website gives you the opportunity to write creative, unique, and precious content about your website and use its links on your website or the other’s.

Quality over Quantity

As we have said in the backlink post, the quality matters a lot more than the quantity in link building. Imagine there are two completely equal websites. Website A gets 10 backlinks from other websites and Website B receives 5 backlinks from powerful websites. In this case, website B gets a better ranking than A. This is because it is very important which websites you are getting backlinks from. So always try to build links in well-known and valuable websites who have content and keywords related to your website.

What are the benefits of using links? (External and Internal links)

Links can do a very important job in SEO. We explained the importance of backlinks before. In this post, we are going to explain fully about external and internal links and their benefits.

What are the benefits of using links

What are the internal and external links?

An internal link connects your website pages together and makes it easier for your viewers to go to different pages of your websites. External links are links that refer to any other website pages that aren’t on your website. We have already said this much in the backlink post. We also said that when you use an external link on your website, that link is a backlink for the referring website. Now let’s say some of the benefits of using internal links.

Benefits of links

  • Improves the viewers’ experience: When your website has more than one page, it’s important to have internal links so that your viewers don’t get lost and can access all of your pages. There is a general rule which says that you should be able to go from one page to another with a maximum of three clicks.
  • SERP: links are mainly used for indexing website pages. When a page is indexed it gets shown on SERP (search engine result page). So we won’t most probably see pages that don’t include links, on SERP.
  • Link juice: When a website links to you, it gives you credit and shows their viewer and search engines that they trust your content. This makes search engines figure that you are a valuable website with trusted content which results in great SEO scores. However, the amount of credit that you get depends on the other website’s authority. You can check websites’ authority with the “Page Authority Analysis tool“.
  • Website’s Ranking: When a crawler scans your website, it turns your anchor texts and internal links into keywords. Anchor text is the blue clickable text that links you to another page. This is why you shouldn’t use texts like “click here” as your anchor text.

What is a backlink? What are Good and Bad backlinks?

One of the main concerns of SEO experts is having backlinks. In this post, we are going to explain what is a backlink and how it can help us improve our website’s ranking.

What is a Backlink?

What is backlink?

In simple words, Backlink is a link from a website to another one. Let’s tell you the difference between the word “outbound link” and “backlink”. Basically, when a website mentions your name on their posts and links them to your website, that’s a backlink for you and an outbound link for them. An outbound link is exactly the opposite of an internal link and it includes any external link that refers to a page that is out of your website. The same link that we just mentioned is a backlink for the website that we are referring to.

Google cares a lot about backlinks. So, Having a lot of good backlinks can help you a lot with your website’s SEO. When other websites link to you, it shows google that those websites count your content as a trustworthy one.

What is a good backlink?

You might think that the more websites link to you, the better. However, the number of these links isn’t the most important thing. It is important which website you are getting backlinks from. The best ones are the ones that come from websites that have higher rankings than you and have similar content. So having a few backlinks from powerful websites are always better than have lots of them from random websites with lower rankings. These links must come from trusted websites and not from spam ones or the ones that use a lot of outbound links. If a website gets SEO scores just buy having links from websites that their IP is known as spam or they don’t create trusted content, they’ll eventually get penalized.

All in all, GOOD backlinks are really important for SEO so get the best ones. Google algorithms change all the time so make sure your content is always up to date and trustworthy so that you don’t lose your ranking.
